Ever since Smallville left the air, there’s a void where my weekly fix of DCU in live action used to be. Sure, Young Justice is holding the torch for the DCU on t.v. but as much as I found flaws with Smallville, I liked it.  In fact, it spoiled DC Comics fans for a decade by bringing their favourite comic book universe to life, week after week.  Are you like me, hoping another DC Comics superhero will save the day on the small screen? Well, have no fear, Booster Gold may soon be here!  According to The Hollywood Reporter, SyFy Network has ordered a pilot script from “Fringe” writer Andrew Kreisberg to be produced by Greg Berlanti.

As comic book fans are well aware, Booster Gold is ” a washed-up athlete from the future who travels back to the present in hopes of becoming the greatest super hero of all time. Instead of chasing criminals, however, his main priority is chasing fame and money. But Booster Gold discovers that being a hero takes more than just a megawatt smile, and that the future doesn’t happen without first protecting the present.”  Of course, Booster Gold appeared on the final season of Smallville played by Eric Martsolf.  The Booster Gold project joins other DC Comics properties in development for television including, Deadman for the CW and The Spectre over at Fox. I’m glad that DC Entertainment is exploiting other characters for live action media beyond Batman and Superman.  It’s about time!
