As expected Justin Hartley will not reprise the role of Green Arrow in the upcoming pilot from the CW.  Instead, Canadian born actor Stephen Amell will take up the bow and arrow used by the comic book hero.  While the 30-year-old actor has been in typical CW fair such as “90210”  as well as a guest spot on “The Vampire Diaries”,  he’s also made guest appearances on more action oriented series such as “CSI”, “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Flashpoint.”  Most recently he had a 10 episode stint on HBO’s “Hung.”

I can’t judge his acting, as I haven’t seen enough of a sample of his work.  However, he does seem  to have a good variety of different roles to his resume.  Let’s not forget that Justin Hartley was on that crapfest known as “Passions” before he joined Smallville. A previous role isn’t always indicative of a future performance, or whether someone is right for a particular role.  I will say that physically, Stephen Amell seems to fit the role.  He stands at 6’1, has the requisite “superhero chin”, and can sport a goatee if this incarnation of the role requires it.  Besides, he’s from my hometown of Toronto, so of course I’m inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.
