Tom Cavanagh, better known to television viewers as the star of “Ed” has been cast in The CW’s pilot for “The Flash”, which they hope will go to series this coming Fall. The actor has been cast in the role of Harrison Wells, “a rock star in the world of physics. The mind and money behind Central City’s S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator, he becomes a pariah after the lab’s explosion, but charts his path to redemption when he discovers that his failed experiment had the unintended consequence of creating the world’s fastest man.” This casting is great for the potential series, as Tom Cavanagh is a versatile actor with an accomplished television resume. Any time you can add an actor like this to your cast it bodes well for the project.
If that wasn’t enough, here’s a Flash Fact that will have fellow fanboys smiling wider than the Joker. It has been announced that television’s first Scarlet Speeder John Wesley Shipp (Barry Allen/The Flash), has joined the series. ” Shipp will guest star in the pilot playing a mysterious character. Details for his character are being kept close to the vest. If the proposed Arrow spinoff receives a series order, his role would expand to recurring status.” That is just a great nod for fans of the original show as well as the characters on-screen history. As far as what role the actor will play, my money’s on 3 possible roles. Jay Garrick or as comic book fans will know, the original Flash. He could also play Barry Allen’s dad, who is in prison, wrongfully accused of his mother’s murder. Or, he could even play the villain the Pied Piper, who is said to have a role in the series. I guess we’ll just have to wait & see…
