The worst kept secret in Hollywood is that Aquaman has some sort of role in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice”, and that Jason Momoa will be playing him. While that has yet to be officially confirmed by the studio (seriously, just make it official already), the studio has recently announced a slate of nine DC Entertainment films, between 2016-2020, in addition to “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Aquaman” will be one of those 9 films. Warner Brothers has hired two separate writers, to write two separate “Aquaman” scripts, the best of the two will be the one that gets the green light. The two writers; Will Beall (Gangster Squad) who wrote a script for “Justice League” that was never used. The other writer, “Kurt Johnstad”, has written “300” & “300:Rise of an Empire”, and did some rewrite work on “Man of Steel.”
“Aquaman is being developed on dual tracks, where studios and producers hire two separate writers to work on the same project in the hopes of getting the best version. The practice allows for release dates to be set while a project is still in development while giving it a muscular push.” I’m very excited by this new. My hope is that the writers, and the studio look to the recent Geoff Johns New 52 iteration of the character, as well as “Injustice: God’s Among Us”, and the “Justice League” animated series for inspiration.
